Outward Courage requires Inward Courage

Talking with a group of teens today we asked them about how they build up their courage.  The response for them was simple.  To have courage outwardly requires inward courage.

One way that many people build up their inward courage is by reading bible verses.

Here are a few of our favorite Courage Building Bible Verses:

Be bold and strong
Banish fear and doubt
For remember the Lord your God is with you
Wherever you go
          Joshua 1:9

Be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen your heart,
all ye that hope in the LORD.
          Psalm 31:24

Let your conversation be without covetousness;
and be content with such things as ye have:
for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper,
and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
          Hebrews 13:5-6

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
          Psalm 23:4

Can you teach moral courage?

This article in the Journal of Nursing Education focuses on the issues of moral integrity, how to teach it and how to recognize the growing temptations in society. An important teaching tool in terms of moral courage is for the instructors to model a high personal level of integrity. The authors found that beliefs drive moral behaviors and must be the focus of strategies for change.
